DDC Technology Day | Research on the Preparation Process of Flavor Peptide Substrates for Feed Flavoring Agents
Abstract : This article describes the development of a production process for flavor peptide substrates used as feed flavorings, achieved through optimization of culture media and research into mixed solid-state fermentation techniques. By blending these substrates with other flavoring components, an optimal formulation was obtained, resulting in a product with a pure, mellow aroma and remarkably stable physical properties. Furthermore, amino acid and protein analyses revealed that the main ingredients are derived from natural plant and microbial proteins, ensuring excellent food safety. Overall, this feed flavoring substrate—rich in functional and nutritional factors—has successfully revitalized traditional feed flavorings, enhancing both their efficacy and versatility.

In recent years, frequent food safety issues have drawn widespread public attention. Along with the "Opinions of the Ministry of Agriculture on Further Strengthening the Supervision of Agricultural Product Quality and Safety" and the 2012 The principle of the "Special Rectification Plan for Agricultural Product Quality and Safety" has been approved, marking a further strengthening of China's regulatory efforts to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products. However, it is undeniable that current livestock and aquatic products still face numerous quality and safety risks as well as significant constraints. The rampant misuse of banned feed additives—such as "lean meat powder" and antibiotics—continues to pose serious threats to our food security. Therefore, the development of new, eco-friendly, healthy, and safe natural feed additives has become critically essential in China's current farming environment. Such innovations will not only provide stronger safeguards for public food safety but also significantly enhance the overall quality of life for people nationwide.
The array of advantages offered by small peptides has garnered significant global attention and has now become a new hotspot in the high-tech industry. Whether viewed from the perspective of animal nutrition or biological function, peptides are poised to play a pivotal role in the future. 21 A new revolution is brewing in global livestock farming. In fact, this revolution has already begun—today, small peptides are widely recognized across the industry for their pivotal roles in animal nutrition and as antibiotic alternatives. Meanwhile, the market is brimming with small-peptide products crafted from either plant-based or animal-derived proteins. Currently, these products primarily aim to deliver superior protein sources to animals, offer potent antibacterial benefits, and support robust physical development. Our newly developed peptide-based feed additives, inspired by nature’s abundant plant and animal proteins, are meticulously processed using safe, eco-friendly bio-enzymatic techniques that break them down into a diverse array of functional peptides. By harnessing the synergistic biological activities of these unique peptides, we effectively promote healthy growth in animals while paving the way toward sustainable, low-antibiotic, and environmentally friendly livestock practices. / Antibiotic-free farming. Our key technologies include bio-enzymatic hydrolysis and microbial fermentation techniques, which not only enhance the quality and palatability of animal feed but also maximize the benefits of peptides in promoting animal growth and boosting the animals' natural immune defenses. Additionally, the Maillard reaction-based flavor-enhancement technology effectively intensifies the flavors of certain peptides and amino acids, further optimizing the performance of these flavor peptides.
